We started off to the ferry terminal around 7:45 am. We conversed with fellow motorcyclists as we were staged together; motorcycles board and disembark first!

We boarded the ferry and took in the gorgeous Skagit Bay.

We could even see Mt. Rainier to the east and the Olympic Peninsula to the south.
Our B&B check-in was not until three o’clock so we decided to circumnavigate the island. We stopped at Lime Kiln Point State Park in hopes of seeing some orcas. We did not, but we did see a sweet little sea lion.
The island is very forested in the center with many meadows and farms.

Not many of the roads hug the shore, but the few that do are spectacular.

We saw several bald eagles… trust us, this is a bald eagle.
Once around the island, we stopped for lunch and had a beautiful view of the harbor and a delicious meal.

It was still only early afternoon so we decided to explore more of the island. In fact, we hit most of the roads that didn’t dead end as a screen shot from our Zumo navigation shows – the blue lines are the roads we covered.
We checked in to our B&B and rested before heading back down into Friday Harbor.

We were excited to see a cafe and wine bar in town so we headed right for it. This was Cathy’s meal fail. It turned out to be a vegetarian restaurant, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it was not well advertised. We had already ordered wine and were planning on saying “never mind” and moving on. Unfortunately the wine bottle came pre-opened; no tasting. We were stuck. The food was surprisingly good but the service and the overall experience was not. Now Tom and Cathy are even in the meal selection competition. Still, Cathy is in charge of food selection, for now.
Tomorrow morning we head to Vancouver Island.
