2019 Colorado Ride Wrap

After years of motorcycle vacations, we are finally getting the hang of it – shorter days, hotels within walking distance of food and entertainment, what to pack, etc. We traveled just over 3,200 miles, which is pretty much our standard, but this year we traveled for eleven days versus eight or nine which was a much better pace. We spent two of those days off the bike which allowed us a nice break while we enjoyed a concert and a train ride.

Choosing the right time of the year for travel, depending upon the area, is always a gamble. Traveling in August is something we will re-think. We were very lucky with the weather. We only had one day of 100 plus degree weather but there were few wildlife sightings which was disappointing, especially in the National parks. We saw several deer, a few antelope, caribou, a little fox, a juvenile eagle and several cottontail rabbits.

It’s always good to have fresh tires when we begin a trip and we put a new set on right before we left. After so many straight miles on this trip through the desert it leaves the steering a bit truckish and the wheel squared off, so we’ll be seeking twisty roads in the coming year.

We also went a bit past the scheduled valve inspection but it turns out everything is within spec. Another 26,000 miles before we need to check again!

We had a fantastic ride this year. We hope you’ve enjoyed traveling along with us! As for the wrap, here you go!
