Day Six – Recharged and Reconnected

Breakfast was at 8:30 and was served with the usual starter of fruit. Having a full cup of coffee was a treat. There were two other couples at breakfast; one from Oakland and one from Aptos where we were headed later that day.

We love the Roundstone Farm because of the area, the interesting people we meet and the inn-keeper, Frank. He is a fantastic chef and storyteller. Today we had French toast with cream cheese and marmalade. Delicious!

We prayed the bike would start. Our prayers were answered and we set off at 10:30. It was foggy and cold most of the way but a beautiful stretch of road.

We were on Highway 1 which crosses the Golden Gate Bridge.

We made our way through San Francisco- the Presidio, Golden Gate Park and, of course, the Bridge.

After crossing the bridge we proceeded south on Highway 1 through the beautiful and iconic coastline north of Santa Cruz.

We stopped at Pigeon Point Lighthouse for a few pictures and then hit the road again.

We diverged off the PCH to visit our sister-in-law in Aptos. We haven’t seen Anne in two years and it was so good to reconnect with her. Now that our daughter lives in Monterey, we’re hoping to be able to see her more often.

After a too-short visit with Anne, we worked our way through traffic and made it to our daughter’s house at around 5:30. We quickly changed and went to dinner.

Tomorrow our daughter has a board meeting in the morning and an event that we will attend in the evening … The Salinas Rodeo. She also arranged for us to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium tomorrow afternoon. We’re looking forward to touring around their new town.
