Our day started out in our favorite way… coffee in bed while snuggling with dogs. Charlotte left for work at 6:30am and Phil was on calls downstairs in his office. Our granddoggers, Fenway and Rory, loved the fact that someone was available to hang with.

Once we pulled ourselves away from the puppies, we got ready to go play in Monterey.
We tried to go to the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Unfortunately it is being renovated and weren’t able to tour. We got a few pictures though.

We decided to see if we could get into the aquarium early. They let us in and we thoroughly enjoyed the incredible facility. This place is a must-see while in Monterey.

We got back to the kids’ house around four and got ready for the evening’s entertainment – the California Rodeo Salinas. Charlotte’s employer, Pacific Valley Bank, was a sponsor.
It’s a Rodeo, Not a Rodeo. In Salinas, it’s pronounced Ro-DAY-o. And, if you mispronounced it, you will be corrected.

It was great people-watching and we wondered how these guys’ bodies take such incredible beatings and then they get up and walk away. We all had a hard time watching the calf roping. It seemed cruel. We cheered when the cowboy missed.
After the rodeo there was a fireworks display that we watched as we walked to the car.

Tomorrow we return home. We’ve had a great time and are a little sad to see it end. We’ll visit with Phil and Char a bit in the morning and then head home.
No barn pic today but a picture of us at the bay.
