After a hearty breakfast of granola, yogurt and apples, we said goodbye to Leavenworth and set off west on Highway 2.

We went over a beautiful pass that ran along the Wenatchee River and caught an unexpected photo of this eagle.

We turned north toward just before Everett and wound our way through small farms and lakeside communities.

The weather was beautiful, the temperature perfect. Once over the pass, we stopped in Monroe at a Starbucks for an espresso. Tom thought we probably looked like the stereotypical BMW posers but we didn’t care. We needed the caffeine.

At Nooksack, we stopped for lunch, mostly because Tom just loved saying “Nooksack” and now he could say we ate lunch there. We split a sandwich and fries. The fries were a surprise because they were garlic fries. When your head is encased in a helmet… garlic fries are not such a good thing.
We made it to the border around 3:00pm and had no trouble with entry. The trouble began when our gps told us there was a 90 minute delay. We went with its recommendation to detour. We’re not sure if it helped because we were stuck in traffic on and off for the next sixty or so miles. Luckily, once we got to Vancouver we used the HOV lane and made fairly good time through the city.

The Sea to Sky road began and from there we enjoyed stunning scenery. British Columbia truly is beautiful.

Arriving around 7:00pm, we strolled around Whistler village which is a party town for young mountain bikers. We tried finding a quiet dinner spot which does not exist in this town. Great people watching, though.

Rain is expected tomorrow so we will gear up and enjoy more beautiful sights on the way to Clearwater.
Today’s barn pic!

😆 Garlic fries! Note to self. Pictures look really nice! 👍

I really liked the puffy clouds in the early pictures. The only other thing I have to say is “Nooksack“ four Tom’s benefit.
