Revelstoke… ‘Cause It’s Fun To Say

We thought we would update you on the cussing sessions caused by getting on the bike. After many YouTube videos, we’ve mastered the art of mounting the bike. Cathy gets on from the right side while the bike is on the stand and then Tom gets on by threading the needle between Cathy and the tank.

We jumped on the road early in an effort to visit the lakes. We were able to get in to Lake Louise which is an awesome site to behold. The water is milky with silt.

Then we tried to get into Moraine Lake. The signage said it was closed but because we were on the motorcycle, they waved us in. This lake was just as spectacular.

Look! We finally saw some wildlife!

We made our way to the small railroad town of Field for brekke – what the French Canadians call breakfast.

There were more lakes, rivers and mountains than we could keep track of. There is never a moment that doesn’t beg to be photographed.

We pulled into Revelstoke around 1:00pm and sought out lunch. Revelstoke is a mountain resort town with a fun name! It is named for Lord Revelstoke who was a banker and who helped fund the railroad.

Tom especially loved today’s roads. Smooth, flowing roads that kept us at good pace. When we arrived at Arrow Lake, we boarded the ferry to continue the journey.

Once on the other side, we passed more rivers and lakes, many of which were completely hidden by thick rows of trees. If our navigation system didn’t show the lakes or rivers, we probably wouldn’t know they were there.

We passed a ridge where a fire had just started. Hopefully they got it under control as we saw helicopters dipping into the lake to gather water.

We got into Nelson around 6:00pm. This town reminded Cathy of some of the Alaskan towns she’s visited. In fact, much of the scenery today was like Alaska.

We were finally able to try poutine – fries with cheese curds and gravy. Yum! Tom has been wanting to try poutine ever since he saw this video. Hopefully he won’t have the same result.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to beautiful Canada and the perfect weather. Lewiston is supposed to be 104 degrees. It was a great visit to this incredible country. Thank you, Canada!
