We rose early and had a light breakfast at the lodge. When we went to load our gear on the bike, we were greeted with a frosted windscreen and seats. The bike registered 36 degrees and we saw the snowflake icon for the first time.

We bid goodbye to Telluride. As we left town, we enjoyed the color show.

We saw a herd of elk on the edge of a meadow. If you look really close, you’ll see brown spots on the right edge of the meadow…those are elk.

We followed the San Miguel River through the like named canyon. It was a beautiful ride but the scenery soon changed to high desert and then to agricultural. Also pretty in a different way.

We stopped once for gas but we weren’t ready for a full break at that point. We would not get another opportunity to stop and settled for pulling off the road for the last of our snacks and a drink.

We went through Cathedral Valley, Big Gypsum Basin and Cheese Box Canyon and crossed the Colorado and the Dirty Devil Rivers.

Because there were few stops, we arrived too early at our hotel so we went into the town of Torrey for gas and shared a small lunch. We still had time so Cathy disappeared for a few minutes and returned with Klondike Bars. A delicious way to kill some time.

We returned to the hotel and did some laundry which is now drying all over the room.
Having completed our chores, we took a walk to look at the sunset and then down to the stables and made friends with the horses. Tomorrow, we will visit the llamas.

We walked across the Highway to the Rim Rock Restaurant for dinner and caught this beautiful moonrise.
Later, we are going to take in the dark(ish) skies!

Tomorrow we will spend time exploring the area. We will also grab a bottle of wine and watch the sun set on the rocks just outside our room.

We did spot a barn today!

Still looking like a great adventure! Hope everyone is healing from stair slide.
