We enjoyed sleeping in until we heard a bellowing moo. We had seen horses and llamas, but not cows. Was that the sound llamas made? Surely not. After a few more moos, Cathy went to the window and saw several cows in the field right behind our room.

After enjoying two cups of Tom’s artisan coffee we got up and slowly got ready to explore the town. There was not much to explore. We went to the Wild Rabbit Cafe for a delicious brunch. Cathy had a grilled chicken and peach sandwich and Tom enjoyed a wild pig club sandwich. Delicious! We went to the little general store to replenish our snack supply for the remaining two days and then went to the state-run liquor store to purchase a bottle of wine.
Tom took a nap and Cathy sat out on the patio and caught up on emails. After Sleeping Beauty awoke, we went for a walk. We checked out the llamas and the view from the barbed wire fence separating the cow pasture from the trail.

We opened the wine around 4ish and enjoyed the views, the neighbors and more llamas.

We walked across the highway to the convenient pizza place for dinner. The proprietor was the female version of Basil Fawlty but the pizza was delicious. Tom lingered behind after the meal to investigate their topographic map while Cathy took pictures of the sun setting on the rocks. Tom learned that the range bordering our lodge were the Meek Mesas and the mountains to our east were the Henry Mountains.

Tonight is a 99.4% waning Gibbous moon. We Googled that because we wanted to capture another good moonrise.

We did not get a barn pic so today’s in-lieu-of-barn pic is the bike in front of a teepee.

If you are in the area and riding at night, watch out for those black cows on the road! Open range. I’ve seen them–at night! Was on the Concours 14 heading to Blanding from Hanksville (for a hotel) and riding UT-95. They were at the far end of UT-95.
