Today’s ride was cold, windy and wet. A trifecta of meh. We got up and had a microwave special brekkie sandwich to a start the day. We visited with a fellow BMW rider who was on his way back home to Mendocino after visiting his father in Denver. He got out ahead of us and we thought that was the last we’d see of him.
We set out to a light drizzle which continued most of the day. We were, however, prepared. We had our heated gear on and our waterproof jackets so it was bearable. You sort of feel like the Michelin Man and moving is a challenge.

We stopped for gas in Fallon, NV. and our friend from Mendocino was also filling up. He joined in a rest and we learned that he and his wife run the Little River Inn which is just south of Mendocino, CA. The Inn has been in his wife’s family for over 80 years. He said to stop by and say hi next time we are up there.
You just never know who you are going to meet on these trips. Once home, Cathy googled the Little River Inn to show Tom where it was and there pictured was our new friend Marc, the executive chef of the Inn, a five star chef who has earned high Zagat ratings.
We said our goodbyes and got back on the road. We don’t have many pictures today because of the rainy conditions but here are a few. The salt flats become shallow lakes.

We stopped for lunch in Carson City where we thought we would lose the rain gear. Nope! It wasn’t until shortly before Placerville that the rain stopped. We decided to push on, get home, get dry and get warm.
We pulled into the driveway around 5:00 p.m. After unpacking, starting laundry and having a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner, we reminisced about the last eleven days. What a great trip that reunited us with old friends, allowed us to experience new sites and take in some of the most beautiful fall color we have ever seen.
Now we begin to plan our next adventure… where shall we go?
Sorry, no soggy barn pic today. Thanks for joining us on our journey!
