Day Six – Fork(s) in the Road

We had to get up early today in order to catch the ferry to Port Townsend. We sadly bid goodbye to Langley.

We made it to the ferry terminal in plenty of time. Even before the ferry arrived.

Soon the ferry Salish arrived and we were the first vehicle to drive on. There was only one other motorcyclist who was heading for home in Vancouver, WA.

Once on board, we enjoyed the short ride on the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Port Townsend.

We were also the first off the ferry! We waved goodbye to our Vancouver friend and headed into town for gas and espressos.

Now, properly fueled, we rode to the Olympic National Park entrance. A few years ago, we bought a lifetime National Park pass for $80. It has paid for itself several times over.

We rode up into the clouds toward Hurricane Ridge. We wondered if we would see anything since it was so cloudy. Soon we were above the clouds.

Once on the ridge, we were mostly looking down on the clouds. It was beautiful up there and well worth the drive up.

We descended back down to the shore and headed for Neah Bay. This was a long, slow and curvy ride. Tom was exhausted when we finally arrived. It’s about as far as you can drive in the upper northwest!

We made our way to Forks. We saw no vampires and just a little rain.

We cleaned up and walked to dinner which was pizza and a big spinach salad.

Tomorrow we ride to McMinnville, OR. Here’s the route…
