We were lazy this morning and left late…around 9:00 am. Sleep felt good. We left Redmond and climbed yet another summit.
At first the ride was through the familiar farm scenes but with a backdrop of the mountains known as the Sisters.
We had to cross the Cascade Range. What a spectrum of landscapes we were to see. We took the scenic route over McKenzie Pass which was a lush road lined with ferns, wildflowers and wild Rhododendrons.

We soon encountered nature’s rath. At the top of the summit, was a volcanic flow from Mt. Washington.

Our poor bike is so dirty but looks great with the forest background.
A crow seemed to be following us along the winding road.
We reached the Oregon coast at Newport.
We made our way down to Bandon, a beautiful seaside village.
Our hotel has a great view of the harbor. Our room is on the second floor all the way on the right.
We had a delicious dinner of crab stuffed mushrooms and clams in a garlic butter wine sauce. Yes, Tom ate seafood! We finished the meal with a beautiful sunset and a new dessert-Russian cream. We have got to find this recipe.
We took a long all along the pier and took the pic below. Yes, it’s grainy because I refused to use a flash.
A beautiful end to a beautiful day.
