What a fantastic trip riding our new bike from Roseville, California to Canada. It was so nice to take eleven days to explore after an almost three-year delay.

We had to relearn some fundamental protocols of long rides including how to stay hydrated, how to keep from getting fatigued and to relearn what are limits are.
1). Stop every two hours whether you need to or not
2). Never not try to use an available restroom
3). Wear Dry-fit long sleeves
4). Hydrate your skin with a good lotion
5). Drink electrolytes throughout the day
6). Stretch – on and off the bike
The bike performed beautifully. The ride is plush on the straightaways and we could make it firmer for bumpy turns and spirited cornering. We averaged about 45 mph and got 45 to 50 mpg. There’s just enough wind protection in warm weather although (thankfully) we didn’t have to test the rain protection. In total, we rode over 3,300 miles and the bike has picked up bugs and dirt from every inch!

It’s always interesting to visit new places, to experience the differences and similarities no matter what language we speak and to see how people adapt to their environments.

The Canadian Rockies are a stunning landscape with endless rivers, lakes and glaciers. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and will return again someday.

We are already starting to talk about where to go next. We may take an early spring ride to the desert southwest and we’d like to return to Glacier National Park taking an unexplored route.
Journey 2022 is a wrap. There is a fundamental truth to photography… power and telephone lines are always on the scenic side of the road! Here are some final pictures (many barns included).
