Day Five – Ahhhh

Ahhhhh…. We slept in until 8:00am. What a treat! After two cups of Nespresso, the NYT Spelling Bee and Connections, we got up and did some laundry. We strolled into town and found a great little place for brunch. We were joined by some cheeky sparrows.

While on the island, we’ve been seeing these old cars. There must be some sort of rally because we’ve seen dozens.

The bustling town that we entered yesterday turned into a sleepy village now that a good portion of the tourists left this morning. Many businesses were closed today.

We took a walk along the shore and sat in chairs provided by the inn. it was so peaceful.

We were entertained by these two pups having the time of their lives.

We kept seeing this WWII bomber (a B17) flying over Saratoga Passage, the body of water outside our window. Tom was so excited!

We went back to our room and napped. Again, such a treat! Now it was time to sit on our deck with a glass of wine and watch the boats go by. The inn provides complimentary snacks and drinks so Cathy chose the Himalayan pink salt popcorn. A piece of good advice on the package from Guru Homer…

The curious seal kept checking us out.

This little bunny was so happy munching on the inn’s lawn.

After resting, we walked back into town. Our plan was to find a sticker for our door leading into the house from the garage. We have stickers from all of our trips. We finally found a great one.

We walked the entire loop of the downtown and some nice people took our picture.

Our plan was to lolly in town, get an appetizer at the happy hour at Prima and the order a pizza to take back to the room. Life is uncertain so we opted for ice cream. We did have some Brie and crackers, too.

After another walk, we went to the pizza place and they informed us that they weren’t serving anymore. We then went to a brewery that had a food truck. They were also out of food. We went back to the ice cream shop and ordered sausage pretzel rolls. Lesson…when in Langley on a Sunday, get dinner early!

We sat on our deck and ate our yucky dinner and enjoyed the clear view of Glacier Peak.

Tomorrow we ride the ferry to the peninsula and then ride to Forks.

Today’s barn pic.

There is still a B17 around after all these years! Maybe it can find a place to bomb in the early 2040s. 🙂
